In the launching of #dontarriva, you can now report Arriva Buses that don’t turn up (we call these #dontarrivas) and those buses that are more than 10 minutes late (we refer to these as “substantially late”. By allowing a ten minute buffer for the purposes of reporting late running buses, this takes into account traffic and adverse weather conditions.
dontarriva Limited (#dontarriva (pronounced “hashtag don’t arriva”)), an independent company from Arriva Bus and their parent and subsidiary companies, set up and run by Arriva Bus Customers, to collate data on Arriva Bus performance across the eleven counties that Arriva Bus serves, through our website, on the telephone and through our community stars who use tools such as our petitions, blank bus timetable, formal complaint and Freedom of Information Act Request templates to gather data that is then scanned and sent back to us.
This data is then published on the #dontarriva website where we will be campaigning for an improvement in performance across Arriva Bus routes where issues are identified, firstly through Arriva Bus, and, failing this, for a change of Bus Operator for those routes where the general public are not receiving the high level of service that they rightly expect when we take our campaign directly to contract issuers.
#dontarriva is named after the worst scenario – when buses simply don’t turn up.
Buses are not simply privately funded. The ability to run bus routes is awarded by the government and bus routes are partially tax-payer funded. This gives us our voice in how tax-payer money is used for bus routes and a voice when Contractors, including Arriva Bus, are not delivering.
All of the statistics that we collect, and all of our template tools, are available under the respective county where any given bus route operates. Where there are instances of cross-county routes, we will use the bus stop location where our reporters boarded (or were not able to board) as the defining County. Please take care to visit the correct region when reporting on Arriva Bus performance so that we can do our utmost to maintain consistency.
Please spread the word, far and wide about #dontarriva. We are of course on all major social media networks too!
Please also consider donating to #dontarriva either financially or with your time. There are many ways to get involved, both in central operations and/or in your local community using our handy templates.
Lastly, thank you for your interest, involvement and support.
